Localizing our resources in Nederland means awareness and research of our strengths, like solar and wind resources and our weaknesses like economy and job transportation. In addition to developing Nederland specific programs, there are many successful sustainable projects already established here in Boulder County to work and partner with.
RIDE SHARE
Please Join our Ride Share list for help matching and organizing carpool groups to Boulder. (Include name, neighborhood, where to in boulder, what is on the radio/cd player, smoking preference, and times)
COMMUNITY BIKES
NSP is currently accepting bicycles for Community Bikes! this Spring 2007. Bikes without locks will be maintained and provided at key spots in town (the bus, shopping center, first street) to encourage resident bicycle use. Bring your own helmet and remember to share! Please Contact Us if you have a bike or bike rack to donate.
NEIGHBORHOOD ECOPASS
This program requires a minimum 100 individuals from each neighborhood (for example Big Springs, Old Town, Navajo) to qualify. Contact Us to Sign Up. Special thanks to NSP members Natalie and Owen Murphy for their hard work bringing this program possibility to Nederland
RENEWABLE ENERGY
Home energy audit inspections are an essential tool in estimating costs for adding solar electric energy. Cutting the amount of energy used by replacing lights, heating appliances and simply ‘sealing up’, can save hundreds, even thousands of dollars. NSP hopes to train employees and purchase the necessary instruments to provide professional home audits. Fundraising for this program will begin this summer 2007 after our Community Garden Renovation is producing a bounty of glorious organic vegetables. Watch for upcoming events!
LOCAL FOOD PRODUCTION
The Capital Fundraising Goal of NSP is to design and construct a Community Greenhouse and Apothecary. We hope to have the necessary funds and materials by Spring of 2008. YOU CAN HELP! Donate on our paypal link (above left), or for sizable tax-deductable donations contact sarah@nederlandsustainabilityproject.org.
